Unit 3 Project: Community issue

This assignment will focus on a cultural or community issue that is part of my life but worth making an argument. After the blog post there will be a podcast related to the blog. I have chosen to do something related to my school: timing. My school this year has changed the start time before school used to begin at 7:50 am. But this year the school has changed it to 7:25 am. I hate this change because I used to be late when it was 7:50 am and now 7:25 like we were all expecting it to be 8 am something like what was the purpose for this change? I am hoping to use my personal experience as ethos towards my argument because even if you come at 7:25, you are going to be late because the buses are late, and the lengthy line affects the people that walk or have a ride. I was also thinking about using teachers and asking them does being late affects their 1st period lesson? Since they are teachers, they have ethos. For my logos, I will be doing a survey and was thinking about asking the administration if they could give a list of the number of students late daily. I will use one month and take the average amount of students being late. I was thinking about using photographs of late lines and the lack of students in 1st period classrooms as my evidence. I am going to ask students if being late affected their lack of focus and understanding of a subject and does this lead to tests and quizzes? My pathos would be the fact that it is raining and freezing outside, and they are standing outside. If I can, ask the parents if students might have gotten sick from this and their perspective. This is worth arguing because if most people are affected by this change negatively then the question is what are even the positive affects? In fact, I suspect that this change was the reason there are not 3:00 pm buses. School ends at 2:00 pm and the next bus is at 5:00 pm. There is a 3-hour time difference if the school time moves up. This difference could be made to a 2-hour difference. If we can stop all these negative effects and make everyone happy, it is not worth the time to argue. It is! This is worth arguing about right now because first it is happening right now. It was not an issue or at least that bad of an issue last year but rather a new problem. Also, it does not happen for the year’s students at the very least.
